BE HOLY AS I AM HOLY

BE HOLY AS I AM HOLY

Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come, Holy is His name. Amen.

Disciples of Jesus Christ are called to be holy as the Lord they serve is holy. We are His people, a royal priesthood, chosen and set apart for Him. Therefore as His bondservants we are to remain unspotted by the ways of this world.

The word holiness in Greek is hagios, and means different or otherness. The temple of God was to be holy, different to any other building. Set apart for special service to Him. This is holiness – to be set apart. It implies something is distinguished and distinct. For us, being holy means we to are to be distinguishable from the world, like our Master. The Hebrew word used in the Old Testament was qodesh and again means apartness, set apart or sacred.

As He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, be holy as I am holy. – 1 Peter 1:15

Jesus told us clearly to come out and be separate, not to do as the world does. This is being holy: setting ourselves apart and distinguishing ourselves from the world by not doing as the world does. It’s why Jesus teachings were so revolutionary in their day going against the current of contemporary culture at the time, including religious culture. It’s why He had such challenges from religious leaders who nullified the commands of God by replacing them with the traditions of men – just as today! As His word does not change so it continues to clash with contemporary culture, including parts of the church. Those who truly seek to obey Him find themselves swimming against a strong current of dissipation and apostasy with people asking why we don’t do the same? As Jude warned, there would be mockers who walk according to their own ungodly lusts who do not have the Spirit, implying they are so called believers – Jude. v18,19

The church has fallen into a trap called deception, which has led it to apostasy. Today it seeks to emulate the world yet her God says I am holy, distinguished from the world – as the church should be. In Acts we read how God added 3000 in a day. When truth is preached and His Spirit is present He brings the people in. In reality, man’s ways are so far short of the Lord’s, the Lord who created all things; whose hands spun the stars into space and who created the heavens and earth. Does the clay really believe it can outsmart the potter?

This matter has sat on my desk for the summer and now the Lord is saying speak, so:

Be holy as I am holy. Come out and be separate. Do not be spotted by the evil ways of this world. You are called to be ambassadors for Christ, to represent the kingdom of heaven here on earth. How can you do this if you assimilate into your soul; world values, ideologies and the doctrines of demons? How can God bless your gatherings and meetings when it’s hard to differentiate between them and the world?

Men, marked out for destruction long ago, have been stealthily creeping into the church polluting her with false doctrines and lies. They have instituted lies, turned the grace of God into lewdness thereby denying the only Lord God, they have given themselves over sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh. Many have already fallen for these lies and the great apostasy foretold has begun.  Do not be deceived: the Lord will come with ten thousands of His saints to execute justice and convict the ungodly (those who disobey God’s commands).

A day in which the righteous will need to call upon the name of the Lord and run to it for protection is almost here. As it was in the days of Noah, so it shall be at the end. The thoughts and ways of men were evil in the sight of God. All flesh was corrupted. The earth was corrupted, and God is a God of justice so judgment must come. England too will be humbled – for her cup of inquity is full.

As if facing Nebuchadnezzar’s furnace, we must not bow down and worship the false gods of men, even if it costs us our lives. As with Noah, if we are faithful to God He will spare us. Noah and his family did not escape the consequences of the storm, they had to prepare and endure it and see its impact, but they survived and prospered in its wake. Out of what is to come, will emerge the revival so many have prayed earnestly for.

So will the bride of Christ continue to presume she can walk down the aisle to meet her Husband wearing a dirty dress? The Man who loved her so much He gave His life for her, who gave her a ring (the Holy Spirit) as a seal of His love and as a promise of His return while He went away to prepare His Father’s house, will He accept a bride who has spotted herself by playing the harlot with the world? Will His Father accept her into His house in such a condition? No! Hence many will plead saying “but Lord we did these things in Your name,” and He will say, “go away from me I never knew you, you workers of iniquity.” The original Hebrew meaning of this phrase means ‘without Torah’ i.e. without obedience to the commands of God.

Now is the time to detach ourselves and separate, to repent, confess and turn away from worldy ways, for God’s ways are not man’s ways. We are to follow God commands, ordinances and precepts – not the evolving traditions of men in the church, which are so polluting her, or those of contemporary society.

“You have disregarded the commandments of God to keep the traditions of men. Thus you nullify the word of God by the traditions you have handed down. And you do so in many such matters!” – Mark 7:9,14.

  1. Hi again! You rightly call for holiness, but I do not see the means to properly achieve real holiness in your article. The ‘Holiness Movement’ of the late 1880s had the same message, but the did not live or proclaim Messiah’s clearly defined means of achieving holiness. It is not mere repentance and faith. It is spiritual death and resurrection – every day by appropriating the Lord’s death and resurrection for us. That is what Galatians 2:20 is all about. And that is the what the epistle to the Galatians is all about. -RobHarms.Org

  2. The Lord has been speaking to me about spiritual circumcision and purity for a while. It is imperative that we fix our eyes on Him only.
